Dear “At the Edges” subscribers:
This summer, “At the Edges, with Marc Loustau” will continue to publish thoughtful and edgy content on Substack. We will be exploring the corners where faith, culture, and politics meet in Europe and the US.
Did you know that there are LGBTQI+ Jewish folks in Hungary? How is this community responding to Hungary’s Pride ban?
Did you know that survivors of Chernobyl, the 1986 nuclear disaster, can visit their abandoned homes near the plant? I interviewed a survivor’s daughter.
Did you know that you can sauna on Ukraine’s frontline? Last month, I had a shvitz with Ukrainian soldiers during a humanitarian trip to Donetsk.
Want to travel to Budapest? I’ll review my favorite underground bars, restaurants, and sites in this city I love. One is a Budapest queer hotspot with a great iced fröccs (wine spritzer).
Do these articles strike your fancy? Each one takes time to research, curate, craft, and publish. Each edition of “At the Edges” requires about eight to ten hours of work.
Until last month, “At the Edges” was a service for all subscribers. From now on, most articles will be available to paid subscribers only. “At the Edges” will still make additional articles publicly available. Free subscribers will have access to important content. And the goal is still to raise global awareness about this important region.
Paid subscriptions, available at a base rate of $10/month, will have access to this exclusive content as well as the Subscriber chat (now opened for the first time).
